The recent arrest of Collins Dauda, Member of Parliament for Asutifi South, has sparked controversy and raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the incident. Dauda was detained in connection with a disturbance during the limited voter registration exercise in Kukuom, Ahafo Region, where one individual was injured and subsequently hospitalized.



According to the National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, Dauda was granted instant bail and it is insisted that he committed no crime. Gyamfi emphasized that Dauda was not present at the scene of the disturbance as he was occupied with monitoring the registration process in his constituency at the time of the incident.


Furthermore, Gyamfi condemned the arrest and urged the police to direct their efforts towards apprehending the true perpetrators of the disturbance. He attributed the chaos to alleged NPP hoodlums and bandits, singling out a known figure in the area. Gyamfi called for the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for harassing, intimidating, and brutalizing innocent citizens at the voting center.


The call for a focus on apprehending the actual instigators of the disturbance reflects the ongoing tensions between political parties in the region and underscores the need for a thorough and impartial investigation into the events that transpired.
