We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred at Kasoa Asempa Down near the New market, where a two-storey building collapsed, resulting in the loss of three lives. The owner of the building, as revealed by the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly Engineer, Isaac Ofori, had been operating without a permit.

According to Mr. Ofori, the owner of the building, who also owns Richmerc Vocational School, had consistently obstructed attempts by the Assembly to inspect her permit, and it was alleged that she had been using substandard building materials.

Despite several summonses from the Assembly, the owner refused to comply with the invitations for inspection. As a result, there are plans in place to take legal action against her as a deterrent to others who may flout building regulations.

In light of these developments, the Kasoa Divisional Police Command has taken the step to invite the landlady for questioning.

It is imperative that building owners adhere to the necessary regulations and standards to ensure the safety of occupants and passersby. This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the importance of strict adherence to building codes and regulations.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time. We hope that justice will be served, and measures will be put in place to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
