We are pleased to report that the Anti-Robbery Unit of the Ghana Police Service in Kumasi has successfully foiled a robbery attempt involving four individuals, who have since been apprehended.
Shadrack Anartey, Emmanuel Agyei Donkor, Abu Ali, and Abubakar Buba were detained by the Konongo Divisional Taskforce while traveling in a Nissan Urvan bus with the registration number AS 4353 -15, following a tip-off.
A subsequent search of the bus led to the discovery of two AK-47 rifles, three magazines, and 86 rounds of ammunition concealed in a compartment of the vehicle, as detailed in a police report shared with Ghana Crimes.
The police acted on information received on October 13, 2024, around 1900 hours, which indicated that the suspects were in the process of planning a robbery.
"The team intercepted the vehicle driven by Anartey with Donkor, Ali of Fulani extraction, and Buba, a Nigerian on board," the report added.
The suspects were promptly arrested, and the weapons were seized while the vehicle was impounded.
Anartey, Donkor, Ali, and Buba are currently cooperating with the police in their investigations and will soon be brought before the appropriate authorities for legal proceedings.
This successful operation is a testament to the dedication and vigilance of the Ghana Police Service in ensuring the safety and security of the public. We commend the Anti-Robbery Unit and the Konongo Divisional Taskforce for their swift and effective response in thwarting this criminal activity.
