We have received reports of a disturbing incident in the Ashanti Region, where a cocoa depot at Fomena was targeted by suspected armed robbers. According to reliable sources, the perpetrators made away with an amount exceeding GH₵1 million, in addition to stealing mobile phones and resorting to violence by shooting at the vehicle of the depot manager before fleeing the scene.

The robbery took place on Thursday evening at approximately 6:20 PM, when four masked individuals armed with AK-47 assault rifles stormed the Agro Ecom Company Limited Cocoa Depot at Adansi Ansah. Their brazen actions included firing at a GMC Terrain 2 vehicle, registered under number GS 9576-22, which belonged to the District Officer.

Law enforcement authorities were promptly alerted to the ongoing criminal activity. Regrettably, by the time they arrived at the location, the perpetrators had already absconded into a nearby bush with their ill-gotten gains, leaving behind no discernible trail.

In response to this deplorable act, a concerted effort has been initiated by a collaborative team of police personnel from New Edubiasi and Adansi Fomena to apprehend the suspects. It is strongly suspected that the perpetrators may be seeking refuge in adjacent communities.

We urge anyone with pertinent information to come forward and assist the authorities in their efforts to bring those responsible to justice. The safety and security of our communities are of paramount importance, and such criminal behavior cannot be tolerated.

We will continue to monitor developments related to this incident and provide updates as they become available.
