A man was arrested on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, for allegedly smashing the windscreens of multiple vehicles parked on Parliament premises.  Eyewitnesses reported seeing the suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, methodically targeting parked cars with a metal object.  The motive behind the vandalism is currently under investigation.

Security personnel responded swiftly, apprehending the suspect at the scene.  During his arrest, he reportedly uttered, "Father have mercy on them. Daddy, they don’t know what they are doing… It is for your own good."  These statements suggest a possible underlying mental health issue or a misguided sense of purpose, though investigations will determine the full context.

The suspect is now in the custody of the Ghana Police Service, and a full investigation is underway to determine the extent of the damage, the suspect's identity, and the reasons behind his actions.  The police are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with their investigations.

This incident raises concerns about security protocols at Parliament and the need for enhanced measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.  The investigation will also explore potential security lapses that may have allowed the incident to happen.  Updates will be provided as they become available.
