An Accra High Court has adjourned the murder trial of Safina Mohammed Adizatu, accused of killing her Canadian boyfriend, Frank Kofi Osei, until February 27, 2025. The adjournment stems from the court awaiting directives from the Chief Justice concerning the selection of a seven-member jury.
Adizatu, also known as Safina Diamond, a student, has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and remains on bail. The prosecution alleges that on July 24, 2022, Osei, a Ghanaian residing in Canada, visited Adizatu at her Ashalley Botwe School Junction residence. According to the prosecution's case, Adizatu and alleged accomplices stabbed and strangled Osei before cleaning the scene. They reportedly left the body in the room for 24 hours before moving it to the gate near Osei's vehicle.
Adizatu subsequently contacted the police, reporting that Osei had died in her room. Upon arrival, police discovered Osei's body outside the house. Adizatu was subsequently arrested and is currently under investigation. The court's decision to adjourn highlights the complexities surrounding jury selection in this high-profile case. The delay underscores the importance of ensuring a fair and impartial jury for the proceedings. Further updates will be provided as the case progresses.
