In a case that has gripped the nation, Bright Aweh, the prime suspect in the murder of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah, has publicly maintained his innocence. Aweh, who was arrested following the discovery of Amoah’s partially burnt body, insists he had no involvement in the crime and is prepared to let the legal process unfold.

The suspect made these statements on Monday, January 19, 2026, as he was escorted by police officers into a vehicle after court proceedings. Addressing members of the media, Aweh expressed his pain over the ordeal but reaffirmed his commitment to seeing justice served.

“I am passing through this painfully for justice to be served. I am not a murderer; I did not kill my friend. I will go through it for justice to be served,” Aweh stated emphatically.

 The Tragic Discovery

The case began on July 9, 2025, when the partially burnt remains of Stephen King Amoah, a 38-year-old immigration officer, were discovered in a gutter at Abuom Junction near Kwabenya in Accra. The discovery came five days after Amoah had been reported missing. Despite the severe burns on the body, relatives were able to identify him at the Police Hospital morgue.

According to police investigations, Amoah had left home on July 3 to meet a friend at Ashongman Estate. The meeting was reportedly arranged to discuss the settlement of a financial obligation. Authorities later determined that Aweh was the last known person to have contacted Amoah before his disappearance.

Aweh was arrested on July 10, 2025, by the Accra Regional Police Command as part of their investigation into Amoah’s death. Since then, he has been appearing in court as the legal process continues.

 Delays in Court Proceedings

The case has been marked by repeated adjournments, which have caused significant frustration for the family of the late immigration officer. The delays have not only prolonged their grief but also deepened their pain as they await justice for their loved one.

On December 3, 2025, Amoah’s family reiterated their determination to pursue justice despite the slow pace of the trial. They expressed their disappointment at the repeated postponements and called for a resolution to the case.

 Seeking Justice

The tragic death of Stephen King Amoah has left many questions unanswered, and the ongoing trial remains a focal point for both legal authorities and the public. While Bright Aweh continues to assert his innocence, the victim’s family remains steadfast in their quest for justice.

The case underscores the broader challenges within the judicial system when it comes to ensuring timely and fair trials. As proceedings continue, all eyes remain on the courts to deliver a verdict that will bring closure to this tragic episode.

For now, the nation waits as the legal process unfolds, hoping for a resolution that will provide clarity and justice for all parties involved.
