Ghana Police Service Arrests Five Suspects in Connection with Violent Robbery in Ahafo Region

In a significant breakthrough, the Ghana Police Service has apprehended five suspects linked to a violent robbery attack that occurred on December 2, 2025, at Nkaseim in the Ahafo Region. The robbery, which involved a coordinated assault on multiple establishments, caused significant losses and left one individual injured.



 Details of the Robbery Incident


The incident unfolded when the suspects, armed with various weapons, blocked the Goaso–Tepa road and launched simultaneous attacks on key locations in Nkaseim. Among the targeted establishments were the Nkaseim Police Station, Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company, Kobby Gold Buying Company, and the Asutifi Rural Bank.


During the attack, the assailants managed to steal two AK-47 rifles from the police station, an unspecified amount of cash from the rural bank, GH¢14,000 from the cocoa buying company, and GH¢12,000 from the gold buying company. Tragically, an employee of the Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company was shot and sustained injuries during the robbery.


 Arrests Following Investigations


The Ghana Police Service, through sustained intelligence-led operations and forensic investigations, has made significant progress in apprehending those responsible for this heinous crime. On January 16, 2026, officers from the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit arrested Mutar Kofi, a 35-year-old commercial tricycle rider, at a location known as “Ata ne Ata” near Nkaseim. Upon interrogation, Kofi admitted his involvement in the robbery.


Further investigations led to the arrest of additional suspects:

- Mahamadu Sagio, 45, apprehended at Nkaseim.

- Shaibu Issah Jallo, alias Jibo, 28, arrested at Chereponi.

- Abdul Suleman, 40, arrested at Tanga near Karaga in the Northern Region.


On January 25, 2026, another suspect, Bukari Sulley, alias Tailor, a 25-year-old trader operating in Alaba, Kumasi, was also taken into custody.


Ongoing Efforts to Apprehend Remaining Suspects


Despite these arrests, the police are intensifying efforts to capture three remaining suspects identified as Dauda, Mohammed Ali, and Hoyeefi. Hoyeefi has been identified as the alleged leader of the robbery gang and is believed to be in possession of the stolen rifles and other firearms used during the attack.
