Today, January 24, 2024, marks a pivotal moment in the high treason case involving ACP Benjamin Agordzo and nine other individuals. The three-member panel presiding over the case is set to deliver their judgment later today, determining the fate of the accused persons.

This case stems from events in 2019 when ACP Benjamin Agordzo, the late Dr. Mac Palm, and eight others were arrested following a police operation at the Citadel hospital. They were accused of conspiracy to commit high treason and high treason, with the state presenting 13 witnesses, including officers from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), to support their case.

Throughout the trial, the state presented compelling evidence, including video footage, alleging that the accused individuals were involved in a plot to destabilize the country, even going as far as planning to manufacture ammunition.

Despite the weight of the evidence presented, all the accused persons maintained their plea of not guilty and concluded their defenses. Tragically, Dr. Mac Palm, in whose hospital the accused were arrested, passed away last year, leading to his testimony being struck out.

The judgment to be delivered today carries significant implications, as those found guilty could potentially face the grave consequence of a death sentence in accordance with the constitution. It is a moment that will undoubtedly shape the future for all involved.

As we await the outcome of this high-stakes judgment, it is crucial to uphold the principles of justice and due process. The decision reached by the panel will not only impact the lives of the accused individuals but also carry broader implications for the rule of law and national security.

We will continue to monitor this developing story and provide updates as the situation unfolds.
