The Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) has been at the forefront of the fight against corruption in Ghana, with Mary Addah serving as the Executive Director. In a recent interview with Bernard Avle on Citi TV's Point of View, Ms. Addah expressed her concerns about the current approach to combating corruption in the country.

Ms. Addah highlighted that the fight against corruption has been predominantly rhetorical, with a lack of decisive action from institutions mandated to address this pressing issue. Despite widespread public awareness, there has been a noticeable absence of prosecutions and sanctions for corrupt practices. This gap between rhetoric and action, according to Ms. Addah, has contributed to the persistence of corruption in the country.

She emphasized the urgent need to move beyond mere words and implement effective measures to combat corruption. Ms. Addah stressed the importance of holding wrongdoers accountable as a crucial step towards creating a more transparent and accountable society.

Furthermore, she pointed out that the restrictive nature of legislation, particularly in defining corruption, has allowed individuals to escape accountability for their actions.

Ms. Addah's remarks underscore the necessity for a shift towards a more action-oriented approach in the fight against corruption. It is evident that there is a crucial need for not only public awareness but also tangible steps such as thorough investigations, prosecutions, and sanctions to root out corrupt practices.

As Ghana continues its efforts to tackle corruption, the insights shared by Mary Addah serve as a reminder of the importance of bridging the gap between rhetoric and action. It is imperative for both public and private sector institutions to demonstrate a strong commitment to combating corruption through concrete measures and accountability.

The Ghana Integrity Initiative, under Ms. Addah's leadership, remains dedicated to advocating for transparency and integrity in governance, and her concerns serve as a call to action for all stakeholders involved in the fight against corruption in Ghana.
