We are deeply disturbed to learn about the arrest of a 30-year-old Nigerian, Joshua Benson, by the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Kasoa Police Command. Benson stands accused of allegedly sodomizing a 12-year-old boy in Kasoa Adade, located in the Awutu Senya East municipality of the Central region.

According to sources, the suspect and the victim reside in the same vicinity, and it is believed that Benson has been abusing the young boy for some time. It has been reported that Benson would buy gifts for the child and then exploit the situation for his own gratification.

The distressing nature of this incident came to light when the victim confided in a friend, who then disclosed the information to the boy’s mother. Subsequently, the matter was reported to the police, leading to Benson’s arrest.

Furthermore, there are suspicions that Benson may have engaged in similar acts with other children, although only one case has been reported to the authorities thus far.

It is imperative that such cases are thoroughly investigated and that appropriate action is taken to ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the community. The protection of our children is of utmost importance, and we must remain vigilant in safeguarding them from any form of abuse or exploitation.

We commend the swift action taken by the DOVVSU and the Kasoa Police Command in apprehending the suspect. It is our hope that justice will be served, and that measures are put in place to prevent such abhorrent acts from occurring in the future.

As a community, we must stand together in condemning such despicable behavior and work towards creating a safe environment for our children. It is crucial for individuals to be aware of their rights and for any suspicions or incidents of abuse to be reported promptly to the relevant authorities.

Our thoughts are with the young victim and their family during this difficult time. Let us reaffirm our commitment to protecting our children and ensuring that they grow up in a safe and nurturing environment.
