We have received an update on the ongoing murder case of late Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, J.B. Danquah Adu. The Accra High Court, presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, has acquitted and discharged Vincent Bossu, the second accused person, in the aforementioned case.

In her ruling on the submission of no case, Justice Lydia Osei Marfo stated that "no case has been made against Bossu." Bossu was standing trial alongside Daniel Asiedu, also known as Sexy Dondon, the first accused person. The charges against the two included conspiracy to commit robbery, with Asiedu facing additional charges of murder and robbery. Both accused individuals have denied the charges before a seven-member jury.

The court has ordered Asiedu to open his defense as a case has been made against him. Meanwhile, the cross-examination of Assistant Superintendent of Police Augustus Nkrumah, the case investigator, has concluded, and he has been discharged by the court.

During the recent court session, Mr. Yaw Dankwah, defense lawyer for Bossu, requested the court to make a submission of no case on behalf of his client. He argued that the prosecution had failed to prove any case against Bossu beyond reasonable doubt, and therefore urged the court to release and discharge the second accused person.

The court ultimately ruled in favor of the defense, stating that the prosecution had indeed failed to make a case against the second accused person. As a result, Bossu has been acquitted and discharged on the charge of conspiracy to rob. On the other hand, Asiedu has been directed to open his defense and submit any witness statements or additional individuals he wishes to call in the matter.

The next hearing for this case has been scheduled for March 22, 2024. As a reminder, Asiedu is standing trial for his alleged involvement in the murder of the late MP at his residence in Shaishie, Accra, in February 2016.

We will continue to provide updates on this case as new information becomes available.
