In a recent incident at Awutu Breku, a 22-year-old electrician named Michael Nelson has been remanded into police custody for allegedly raising a false alarm regarding the shrinking of his penis at Millenium City, Kasoa. Nelson has been charged with the publication of false news and causing unlawful harm.

The accused individual falsely accused Safiru Bohari, a nail technician, of causing his alleged condition, leading to Bohari being subjected to merciless beatings by some individuals in the area. As a result, Nelson has been held in police custody and was not allowed to enter a plea during the court proceedings.

Nelson is scheduled to reappear before the court presided over by Naomi Kontuor on April 11, 2024. The prosecution, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Thomas Sarfo and Chief Inspector Bernice Wie Kpuusu, provided details of the incident to the court.

According to the prosecution, on March 27, 2024, Nelson approached Bohari under a mango tree in Millennium City Estate and baselessly accused him of causing the alleged shrinkage of his penis. This unfounded accusation led to Nelson raising a false alarm, attracting people from the neighborhood who then proceeded to subject Bohari to severe beatings, resulting in various injuries.

A witness intervened and brought both parties to the Millennium City Police station, where the case was reported. Subsequently, medical examinations were conducted, revealing that Nelson's claim was unfounded as his condition was found to be stable with no defects. Both parties received medical treatment and were discharged.

This incident serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of spreading false information and making baseless accusations. It also highlights the importance of conducting thorough investigations before resorting to any form of vigilante justice.

As the legal proceedings continue, it is essential to uphold the principles of justice and ensure that all individuals involved receive fair treatment under the law. The outcome of this case will undoubtedly have implications for addressing similar incidents in the future, emphasizing the need for responsible behavior and adherence to due process in our society.
