We regret to report a tragic incident that occurred in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region, where a Kumasi-based taxi driver allegedly took his own life. The deceased, identified as 43-year-old Kwabena Owusu, was discovered by his wife, Vida Pokuaa, hanging in the bathroom on Tuesday.

According to reports, Vida Pokuaa found her husband hanging from a tight sponge that was tied to the ceiling. Despite her immediate efforts to rescue him, she was unable to do so alone due to the weight of the deceased. Assistance from others in the vicinity was sought, but unfortunately, it was too late as Kwabena Owusu had already passed away. His body has been subsequently deposited in the morgue.

Vida Pokuaa has expressed that her husband did not exhibit any signs of distress prior to the incident. However, there have been speculations among local residents that financial difficulties resulting from the loss of his job may have contributed to the unfortunate event. Kwabena Owusu, a father of five children, was believed to be facing financial challenges in recent times.

This deeply distressing occurrence serves as a reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and support within our communities. It is crucial for individuals facing hardship to seek assistance and for those around them to offer understanding and empathy. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Kwabena Owusu during this difficult time.

It is our hope that this tragic event will prompt discussions and actions aimed at providing support to those in need within our society. Let us strive to create an environment where individuals feel comfortable seeking help and where no one feels alone in their struggles.
