We have recently seen a case involving a 26-year-old contractor who has been arraigned for allegedly assaulting another individual with a pinch bar. The accused, Prince Ayivor, has denied the allegations and has been admitted to GHC10,000.00 bail with two sureties.

During the arraignment at the Pakyi District Court presided over by Madam Dora Nsiah Jackson, it was ordered that Ayivor deposit his Ghana card with the Court’s registry. His next appearance in court is scheduled for May 2, 2024.

According to Police Chief Inspector Christian Amartey, the victim and complainant, Tanko Seidu, was a resident at Trede, while the accused person, Ayivor, was a contractor residing at Nkoransah. The incident took place on March 1, 2023, at about 1200 hours when the complainant was returning from a site on a motor bicycle.

The prosecution stated that while the complainant was parked by the roadside to receive a phone call, the accused person, who had previous issues with the complainant, started questioning him. This led to a confrontation where the accused person allegedly assaulted the victim with a pinch bar.

Following the incident, the complainant reported the matter to the Trede Police and sought medical examination and treatment. Subsequently, the accused person was arrested and handed over to the police. A caution statement was obtained from the accused, and after investigation, he was charged with the offence to appear before court.

It is important to allow the legal process to take its course in such matters. We will continue to monitor this case as it progresses through the judicial system.
