Two foreign nationals have been arrested in Ghana in connection with the seizure of 46.7 kilogrammes of cocaine at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut, Lebanon, over the weekend.
The suspects are currently in the custody of Ghana’s Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), where they are assisting with ongoing investigations.
Arrests Confirmed by NACOC
Francis Opoku Amoah, the acting Director of Public Affairs at NACOC, confirmed that the two suspects were arrested on Monday.
A third foreign national was also detained in connection with the case but was subsequently released after interrogation.
The three individuals were identified by nationality as Syrian, Lebanese and Tunisian. However, the information provided does not specify which two remain in custody or which individual was released.
Investigations Continue
All three suspects were detained in Ghana as part of investigations into the cocaine seizure in Lebanon.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the information available does not establish the suspects’ specific roles in the case. Their detention should not be taken as a determination of guilt.
