In response to ongoing chieftaincy disputes, the Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, has taken decisive action by imposing a curfew on Sampa Township in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region. This measure, enacted through an Executive Instrument, will be in effect from 4:00 pm to 7:00 am each day, starting on Thursday, April 25, 2024, until further notice.

The decision to implement the curfew was made on the advice of the Bono Regional Security Council, in light of the escalating tensions in the area. It is imperative that all stakeholders, including Chiefs, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and the general populace, exercise restraint and seek peaceful resolutions to the challenges at hand.

Furthermore, in an effort to maintain public safety and security, a total ban on carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons has been put in place within Sampa Township. Any individual found in possession of such items will face arrest and prosecution.

It is essential for all parties involved to prioritize dialogue and non-violent means of addressing grievances in order to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region. The Ministry urges the community to cooperate with the authorities and work towards a peaceful resolution of the underlying issues.

As this situation continues to develop, it is crucial for everyone to remain vigilant and compliant with the imposed curfew and weapons ban. The Ministry for the Interior will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as necessary.

Let us all work together to foster a safe and harmonious environment for the residents of Sampa Township and the wider Bono Region.
