Police Launch Investigation into the Murder of 36-Year-Old Man in Nkwanta South Municipality

The Nkwanta District Police Command has initiated a thorough investigation into the tragic murder of Thomas Adon, a 36-year-old man who was fatally shot at Keri, located within the Nkwanta South Municipality. The incident has left the local community in shock and mourning.



A joint Police-Military team was dispatched to the scene on June 8, 2026, following a report of the fatal shooting. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered the lifeless body of the deceased lying in a pool of blood, bearing multiple suspected gunshot wounds.


During a subsequent search of the area, investigators recovered several items believed to be linked to the crime. These included a piece of wood, 15 spent cartridges, and five live BB and AA cartridges. All items have been secured as evidence to aid in the ongoing investigation.


The body of Mr. Adon was transported to the St. Joseph's Hospital Mortuary in Nkwanta for preservation and a post-mortem examination, which is expected to provide further insights into the circumstances surrounding his death.


In a bid to maintain calm and foster cooperation, the Joint Security Team engaged with local chiefs, elders, and family members of the deceased. During this meeting, the team extended their condolences to the bereaved family and assured them that the investigation would be conducted with utmost professionalism, impartiality, and diligence.


Residents of Keri and surrounding communities have been urged to remain calm and refrain from any retaliatory actions. The security agencies have emphasized their commitment to identifying and apprehending those responsible for this heinous act. Additionally, they have appealed to the public for credible information that could assist in expediting the investigation.


The Ghana Police Service's Oti Regional Headquarters in Dambai released an official statement on June 8, 2026, reiterating their dedication to ensuring justice is served. The authorities have called for community support in their efforts to resolve the case and bring closure to the grieving family.
