We are deeply saddened to report on a tragic incident that occurred in Nsuobiri, within the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra region. The community is reeling from the alleged murder of a young girl, Dorcas Dzivor, a Junior High School (JHS) two pupil, by her stepfather, Amenyo.
According to Martin McCarthy, the Assemblyman for Nsuobri Electoral Area, the unfortunate event took place on Monday morning. Dorcas was in the company of some friends, on their way to fetch water, when Amenyo reportedly approached her. He then asked Dorcas to accompany him to an unknown location after sending the others on a separate errand. Upon their return, both Dorcas and her stepfather were nowhere to be found.
A search party was immediately dispatched, and after several hours, Dorcas's lifeless body was discovered in a cassava farm. It was a harrowing sight as her hands and legs were found tied up with socks stuffed in her mouth, while she lay in the bush in a supine position.
Amenyo has been arrested and is currently in custody at the Kwaku Pamfo Police station pending investigations. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital awaiting autopsy.
This heartbreaking incident has sent shockwaves through the community, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Dorcas Dzivor during this difficult time. We hope that the authorities will conduct a thorough investigation to ensure that justice is served for the young victim.
