We have learned that the Ghana Police Service has taken decisive action in response to reported lapses in duty during the ongoing Limited Voter Registration Exercise in Adugyaman, Ahafo Ano South East District, Ashanti Region.

Three personnel, namely Inspector Michael Addo, G/CONST. Eric Boakye, and G/CONST. Michael Gyan, have been interdicted due to allegations of professional misconduct. These officers, stationed at the Electoral Commission Office in Adugyama, reportedly failed to effectively execute their responsibilities when faced with attempts to disrupt the registration process on May 11.

The Ghana Police Service has emphasized that the alleged failure of these officers to maintain proper security protocols has led to swift disciplinary action. The interdicted personnel are expected to undergo due disciplinary process within the Police Service.

In addition to the interdictions, Member of Parliament for Asutifi South, Collins Dauda, has been taken into custody in connection with a separate disturbance during the registration exercise in Kukuom, Ahafo Region. The police's investigations indicate his potential involvement in the disturbances that occurred on May 11, resulting in one person being hospitalized.

While Collins Dauda is in custody, investigations are ongoing to ascertain his role in the incident. Furthermore, the police have intensified efforts to apprehend other suspects involved in the disturbances.

The Ghana Police Service's swift and decisive actions underscore its commitment to upholding security and order during important national exercises such as voter registration. It also serves as a reminder of the accountability expected from law enforcement personnel in carrying out their duties.
