We have received an update on the case of Richard Appiah, the footballer accused of the tragic killing of two minors and storing their remains in a refrigerator at Abesim. The Accra High Court has adjourned the case to May 27, 2024, due to the absence of a juror.

During the court session, it was noted that only six out of the seven jury members were present. The court was informed that the absent juror had allegedly written to the Registry of the Court, although the court stated that it had not received any such letter. As a result, the case was adjourned to allow for the completion of the case completion plan.

Richard Appiah, who is not only a footballer but also a draughtsman, has maintained his plea of not guilty to the two counts of murder before the seven-member jury. He stands accused of the alleged killing of Louis Agyemang, his stepbrother, and Stephen Sarpong in Abesim, Bono Region, in 2021.

The Court, presided over by Justice Ruby Aryeetey, has remanded Appiah into lawful custody for the duration of the adjournment. Nana Ama Adinkra, a Senior State Attorney, is representing the state in this case, while Appiah is being represented by Faustinus Yirilabuo.

We will continue to monitor this case and provide updates as it progresses through the legal system. Our thoughts remain with the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time.
