In the ongoing trial involving businessman Richard Dzakpa and former Deputy Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, concerning the procurement of ambulances, Mr. Dzakpa has made claims regarding the government's alleged lack of cooperation in the matter.
During his testimony, Mr. Dzakpa asserted that the issues with the ambulances were a result of the government's failure to assist Big Sea Limited, the company responsible for shipping the ambulances and fitting them with the necessary accessories.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is currently facing trial, along with two others, on charges related to causing financial loss to the state in connection with the purchase of these allegedly faulty ambulances.
The crux of the case against Dr. Ato Forson revolves around the allegation that he requested letters of credit, leading to a payment of €2.37 million for the ambulances without proper authorization, a claim which he has refuted.
