In a recent development, Mr. Samson Deen, President of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) – Ghana, has addressed the media regarding the alleged Norway visa scandal involving the NPC.

It has been reported that 11 athletes and officials absconded during a competition in Norway in April of this year, without actually participating in the event. These reports also mentioned the arrest of one individual, the unfortunate passing of another, and the remaining individuals being on the run.

However, the NPC has vehemently denied any involvement in this matter, stating that the information circulating in the media is false and maliciously misleading. The NPC clarified that the team in question was not affiliated with them and did not represent the country.

According to a statement from the NPC, they were not aware of the purported Ghana Paralympic team's trip to Norway, nor did they have any involvement in facilitating or endorsing it. The NPC emphasized that the individuals involved were not recognized by the committee and were not potential candidates for this year's Paralympic Games.

The NPC further highlighted their ongoing commitment to para-sports development and promotion, citing their sponsorship of potential Paralympic athletes to compete in qualifiers across Africa and Europe. They also expressed their willingness to assist the security agencies in getting to the bottom of this issue.

While the matter is already being addressed by the country's security agencies, including the National Security and Ghana Police Service, the NPC also pointed out the failure of the Norwegian Embassy to exercise due diligence in processing and issuing visas to the said team.

It is evident that the NPC is resolute in setting the record straight and upholding their commitment to honesty and integrity in their actions. As this situation unfolds, it is crucial to await further developments and trust that the truth will prevail.

The NPC's dedication to para-sports and their proactive approach in addressing this issue demonstrates their unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability within the realm of sports governance.
