We are deeply saddened to report a tragic incident that occurred in Sehwi Kankakrom near Yamatwa in the Bia West District of the Western North Region. A man, identified as Josontey Kwame, allegedly took the life of his stepdaughter on his farm.

According to Isaac Oduro, a resident of the area, the mother of the deceased had sent her to deliver food to her father at the farm. However, the young girl, named Mary Josontey, did not return home after several hours. Her father, known only as Kwame Dagati, informed her mother that he had given Mary some work to do on the farm. This raised suspicions among the family members, leading one of the children to investigate.

Upon reaching the farm, the child discovered blood and found Mary's body covered with leaves at a corner of the farm. The family was immediately notified, and the father was accused of the murder. In an alarming turn of events, he reportedly attempted to take his own life by consuming a poisonous chemical. Fortunately, his attempt was unsuccessful, and he was subsequently restrained and handed over to the Police at Yamatwa.

The authorities were informed, and the body of the deceased was transported to the Essam Government Hospital mortuary. Meanwhile, the father is currently receiving treatment at Essam Hospital.

This heartbreaking incident has undoubtedly shaken the community, and our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Mary Josontey during this difficult time. The authorities are conducting a thorough investigation, and we hope that justice will be served for the young victim.

It is important for us to come together as a community to support each other and to prioritize the safety and well-being of our children. We urge anyone with information related to this incident to come forward and assist the authorities in their investigation.

As more details unfold, we will continue to monitor the situation and provide any necessary updates.
