In a significant victory against drug trafficking, the Volta North Regional Police Command has successfully intercepted a large shipment of cannabis, locally referred to as "wee," which was reportedly en route to Nigeria. This operation highlights the authorities' unwavering commitment to combating illicit drug trade and ensuring the safety and well-being of the region's residents.

The breakthrough came after the police received a tip-off from a vigilant local informant, who reported suspicious activities along the Eastern Corridor road. Acting swiftly on this intelligence, the police established a strategic checkpoint at Kadjebi-Okanta. Their efforts bore fruit when officers discovered the cannabis cleverly concealed within hidden compartments of a long truck.

The operation led to the seizure of several tons of cannabis, marking a substantial blow to the drug trafficking network operating in the region. The driver of the truck, along with his accomplice, was immediately taken into custody. Both individuals are currently under investigation as authorities work to uncover further details about their involvement and any connections to a larger criminal network.

The Volta Regional Police Command has reaffirmed its dedication to tackling drug trafficking and protecting residents from the dangers associated with illicit substances. This successful operation serves as a reminder of the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and community members in addressing such challenges.

Investigations are ongoing as police aim to identify other individuals linked to this operation and dismantle the broader drug trafficking network. Authorities remain resolute in their mission to uphold law and order, ensuring that such illegal activities are curtailed in the region.

This development underscores the effectiveness of proactive policing and community vigilance in addressing drug-related crimes. The Volta North Regional Police Command has called on citizens to continue providing timely information that can aid in securing safer communities for all.
