We regret to inform the public that Louisa Buabeng, an independent parliamentary candidate for the Effutu constituency, has been remanded into police custody by the Winneba High Court. This ruling was made by Her Ladyship Justice Marriam Agyeman Gyasi Jawhary on Thursday, November 28, 2024.

Buabeng's arrest stemmed from an incident on November 20 at the court premises after a hearing related to an election matter she had filed. Subsequently, she was re-arrested on Wednesday evening and brought before the court the following morning.

According to reports from Citi News, the arrest was prompted by the discovery of several voter identification cards at the residence of one of her aides. As a result, the aide has been charged with unlawful possession of documents, while Buabeng faces a charge of conspiracy to commit a crime.

As per the court's decision, the candidate has been remanded into custody for four days and is expected to reappear before the court on Monday, December 2, 2024.

We will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as they become available. Our thoughts are with all parties involved during this challenging time.
