Electrochem Ghana Limited has issued a strong condemnation following a violent raid on its operations in Ada, allegedly perpetrated by armed thugs claiming affiliation with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).  The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday at approximately 3:00 AM, resulted in significant damage, theft, and disruption to the company's operations.

According to a company statement, assailants wielding cutlasses and firearms overwhelmed the facility.  The perpetrators openly declared their association with the NDC, with a known party activist reportedly leading the attack.  The attackers ransacked the premises, stealing essential office supplies and a substantial quantity of salt products from the warehouse.

Abdul Razak Adam, Chief Executive Officer of Electrochem Ghana Limited, expressed deep concern over the attack.  "We are deeply disturbed by this brazen attack on our facilities," he stated.  "The safety of our employees is our top priority, and this incident underscores the urgent need for enhanced security measures to protect our personnel and assets."

The attack's impact extends far beyond Electrochem's operations.  The company employs approximately 1,800 permanent workers and supports over 3,000 casual workers during peak salt mining seasons.  This incident jeopardizes the livelihoods of thousands of Ghanaians who depend on the company for employment.

"This attack is not just an assault on our company but on the broader investment climate in our region," Adam added.  "It undermines the trust of our local and international investors who have made significant contributions to our operations and community initiatives."

Electrochem Ghana Limited has actively engaged in community development since assuming control of its concession, including establishing community pans and outgrower schemes.  The company's commitment to sustainable practices and community welfare has been a cornerstone of its operations.  The recent violence severely undermines this commitment and the economic and social fabric of the region.

The company has called on the authorities to swiftly apprehend and prosecute those responsible.  "We urgently call upon the authorities to take decisive action to apprehend and prosecute those responsible for this heinous act," Adam continued.  "The perpetrators must be held accountable to prevent further destabilization of our operations and to restore confidence in the safety of businesses operating in the region."  The company has pledged to cooperate fully with law enforcement in their investigation.
