The hearing, presided over by Her Worship Magistrate Abena Owusu Omanyo, was adjourned to Monday, October 6, 2025, after the pleas of the accused individuals were not taken.

Notably, four other suspects connected to the case are currently at large and are actively being pursued by law enforcement.

Details of the Incident

According to the prosecution led by Chief Inspector Apewah and the facts presented by Detective Inspector Amadu Mohammed, the incident occurred on September 10, 2025, at Darkuman Cable and Wireless in the Greater Accra Region. The complainant, Mutala Yayaa—a trader and sub-chief at Weija—was visiting the area with his errand boys when he was confronted by the accused at a spot locally known as "Bolga."

The confrontation escalated when the group questioned Yayaa’s presence and authority in the area. Upon his refusal to comply with their demand to sit down, they allegedly launched a brutal assault using weapons including a cutlass, axe, and scissors. The attack left Yayaa with multiple deep cuts on his head and body.

Following the incident, Yayaa reported the matter to the Darkuman Police Station and was issued a medical form for treatment. A medical report confirming his injuries was subsequently submitted to law enforcement on September 11, 2025.

Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

After receiving the medical report endorsed by a doctor, police traced and arrested the nine accused individuals at various hideouts. During interrogation, all nine denied involvement in the attack. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to apprehend the four remaining suspects who remain at large.

The case has since been referred to the Regional CID for further investigation. Law enforcement authorities continue to work diligently to unravel the full circumstances surrounding this violent incident.

Court Proceedings

During today’s court session, the pleas of the accused persons were not taken, leading to an adjournment. The matter is set to resume on Monday, October 6, 2025, for further hearing. Until then, the accused individuals remain in custody.

This case underscores the seriousness of violent crimes and highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement and judicial authorities to ensure justice is served. The public awaits further developments as investigations continue and court proceedings progress.
