In a decisive move to uphold ethical standards and protect student welfare, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted Mr. Mfo Richard Tibetor, a teacher at Okadjakrom Senior High Technical School in the Jasikan Municipality of the Oti Region. This action stems from allegations of sexual misconduct involving Mr. Tibetor and a female student.

The decision was announced in an official statement released on Thursday, October 2, by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES. The statement revealed that the interdiction was prompted by the circulation of a disturbing video on social media, purportedly showing Mr. Tibetor engaging in inappropriate conduct with a student.

GES expressed firm disapproval of the alleged behavior, describing it as “unacceptable, unethical, and a clear violation of the professional code of conduct for teachers.” As part of the interdiction process, Mr. Tibetor has been prohibited from entering the school premises while investigations into the matter are underway.

The Ghana Education Service emphasized its unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of students across all educational institutions in the country. Parents, guardians, and members of the public were assured that any teacher found guilty of actions compromising the dignity and wellbeing of students would face severe consequences in line with GES’s Code of Conduct.

“Any teacher found culpable of acts that compromise the dignity and wellbeing of students will face the full rigours of the law in accordance with the GES Code of Conduct,” the statement stressed.

The Service reaffirmed its dedication to fostering discipline, professionalism, and child protection within Ghana’s education system. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining high ethical standards among educators to safeguard the trust placed in them by students and their families.

As investigations continue, GES calls on stakeholders to remain vigilant and to report any concerns that may jeopardize student welfare. This proactive stance underscores the Service’s mission to promote a safe and conducive learning environment for all students.

The interdiction of Mr. Tibetor highlights GES’s zero-tolerance approach toward misconduct and its resolve to uphold the integrity of Ghana’s education system.
