In a concerning turn of events, the bursar of Ghanata Senior High School (SHS), Lamisi Sarah, has been apprehended for allegedly diverting food supplies intended for the students under her care. This arrest was officially confirmed by the Member of Parliament for Shai-Osudoku and Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo.

According to Minister Ocloo, her office had received credible reports in recent weeks regarding the alleged misappropriation of food provisions meant to support the welfare and nutrition of students. These allegations, if proven true, represent a significant breach of trust and public duty, particularly given the critical role these supplies play in ensuring students' proper nourishment.

The Minister described the situation as deeply troubling, emphasizing its implications for public confidence in state institutions. "This is a serious matter that directly affects the well-being of our students and undermines the integrity of our public institutions," she stated.

Upon receiving the reports, Minister Ocloo promptly alerted the National Security apparatus within her constituency to conduct a discreet investigation into the matter. Their inquiries culminated in confirmation of the alleged diversion on Tuesday, February 17. This led to the immediate apprehension of Lamisi Sarah.

"I directed the officers to hand her over to the Police so that due process can take its full course under the law," Minister Ocloo explained. She also assured the public that investigations into the matter would continue, with accountability and transparency being prioritized throughout the process.

The Minister further stressed that incidents of this nature not only erode public trust but also jeopardize the welfare of students who rely on these essential resources. She expressed her commitment to upholding accountability and ensuring that anyone found culpable would face the full rigor of the law.

In her statement, Minister Ocloo reaffirmed her dedication to safeguarding student welfare and maintaining the integrity of public institutions in the region. "We will not tolerate breaches of trust that compromise the well-being of our students or undermine public confidence. Such actions will be dealt with decisively," she vowed.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and accountability in managing public resources. As investigations proceed, it is hoped that justice will be served, and measures will be put in place to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
