The Office of the Special Prosecutor has recently revealed that the outcome of KPMG’s audit on the transaction between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML) will significantly influence its ongoing investigation. This announcement comes as the Office of the Special Prosecutor disclosed that it has initiated a preliminary investigation into the contractual arrangements between the two entities.



In its half-yearly report released on December 29, 2023, the Office of the Special Prosecutor stated that the preliminary investigation was prompted by a complaint filed on December 18, 2023, by The Fourth Estate. This development underscores the commitment of the Office of the Special Prosecutor to thoroughly examine the contractual agreements in question.


Furthermore, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo recently granted an extension for KPMG to complete its audit on the GRA-SML transaction. The initial deadline of Tuesday, 16th January 2024, was extended to Friday, 23rd February 2024, in response to a request from KPMG. This extension reflects the importance of ensuring a comprehensive and thorough audit process.
