The management of the Eastern regional branch of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is reaching out to the general public for support in safeguarding the various transformers located in the region.
Recent incidents of vandalism and theft of transformers by unscrupulous individuals have prompted us to appeal to the community for assistance. Just last Friday, one of our transformers was vandalized, and its components were stolen. This criminal act resulted in power outages in the Lartey Gas area of Koforidua.
We urge the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report any unexplained power outages, especially during nighttime, so that we can conduct immediate investigations to determine if any tampering has occurred.
Despite our concerted efforts to combat these criminal activities in the Eastern Region, ECG continues to grapple with persistent thefts. As part of our strategy, we have been erecting concrete fences around these vital infrastructure points to deter thieves and ensure the uninterrupted supply of electricity to local communities.
We recognize that protecting our transformers is a collective responsibility, and we appeal to all residents to join us in this effort. By working together, we can help prevent further disruptions to the electricity supply and contribute to the overall development of our region.
Let us stand together in safeguarding our electricity infrastructure for the benefit of all. Thank you for your support and cooperation.
