Police officer interdicted for allegedly assaulting civilian

We have recently received news of the interdiction of a Police officer, № 49187 General Corporal Wise Bessey, stationed at the Takoradi District Police Command, by the Ghana Police Service. This action was taken in response to an alleged assault on a member of the public in Takoradi, located in the Western Region.



The interdiction of General Corporal Wise Bessey is a necessary step to facilitate a thorough investigation into the incident and to assess the professional conduct of the Police officer, in accordance with Police Service Regulations.


In light of this incident, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has personally reached out to the victim to provide assurance of the necessary Police assistance and to guarantee a comprehensive investigation into the matter.


It is important to emphasize that the Police Service is committed to upholding professionalism at all times in the execution of our mandate. We want to reassure the general public that maintaining high standards of professionalism remains a top priority for the Police.


We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as the investigation progresses.
