We are saddened to report a tragic accident that occurred at Sokoban in Kumasi, resulting in two confirmed fatalities and five individuals in critical condition. The incident involved a mini commercial bus, commonly referred to as a 'trotro', which experienced a brake failure and collided with another bus.

Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted that one of the deceased, a middle-aged woman, tragically lost her life while attempting to escape the accident by exiting the vehicle. Regrettably, the overturned bus crashed upon her, leading to her untimely passing. Another victim, a lady, was swiftly transported to the hospital but, unfortunately, succumbed to her injuries.

Furthermore, five additional passengers sustained injuries and were promptly taken to the hospital for urgent medical attention. This distressing event has underscored the pressing need for improved safety measures on the road, particularly along the one-kilometer stretch at Sokoban. It is disheartening to note that this area has been marred by previous fatalities, exacerbated by stalled construction efforts.

The community, motorists, and commuters alike have persistently advocated for the expeditious repair of this perilous road section. The urgency of addressing this issue cannot be overstated, as lives continue to be at risk. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time.

As we await further updates on this incident, we fervently hope for the swift recovery of those currently receiving medical care. It is imperative that concerted efforts are made to prevent such tragic accidents from recurring in the future.
