We regret to report the tragic death of Philip Armah Ludtroth, a final-year student at Esiama Senior High Technical School. Ludtroth's untimely demise occurred as a result of an ill-fated attempt to jump over the school's fence wall.

According to sources close to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the 19-year-old student allegedly made the risky decision to leap over the wall in order to purchase food from outside the school premises on Wednesday, March 20, at approximately 1300 hours GMT. Tragically, his attempt ended in disaster as he landed on his neck, resulting in a severe neck sprain.

Upon reaching out to the Ellembelle District Director of Education, Wilfred Adodoadji, for confirmation of the incident, it was revealed that the day in question had been designated as Heroes Day. The school was in the midst of a program to honor retirees of the Ghana Education Service (GES) and teachers in the Ellembelle District for their dedicated service.

It was disclosed that Ludtroth's mother had visited the school with provisions for him, but he had endeavored to evade school boundaries by resorting to jumping over the fence. Regrettably, this decision led to the grievous neck injury, and he was promptly transported to the Clinic at Esiama. Subsequently, Ludtroth was referred to St. Martin's De Porres Hospital at Eikwe, where he was tragically pronounced dead.

As part of standard procedure, the body has been placed in the care of the Eikwe Hospital Morgue pending an official autopsy. Meanwhile, the Esiama Divisional Police Command has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of Philip Armah Ludtroth during this difficult time. The loss of a young life is always a profound tragedy, and we hope that the investigation will provide clarity and closure for all those affected by this deeply unfortunate event.
