The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised concerns regarding the scheduling of political cases by the Chief Justice, particularly in relation to the upcoming hearing of a writ filed by Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Etse K. Dafeamekpor at the Supreme Court on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.

In the statement signed by the General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Kwetey, the party expressed its intrigue at the prioritization of the Dafeamekpor case over the case of Richard Dela Sky v. the Parliament of Ghana and the Attorney-General. The latter case pertains to a writ challenging the constitutionality of the Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2024, filed almost two weeks before Dafeamekpor's writ.

The NDC's concern stems from the perceived discrepancy in the handling of these cases, as well as the implications for the democratic process and the rule of law. The party emphasized the need for equitable treatment and fair consideration of all cases brought before the Supreme Court.

It is evident that the NDC is closely monitoring the judicial proceedings and is committed to upholding transparency and fairness in the legal system. The party's stance underscores the importance of ensuring that all cases, especially those with political implications, are given due attention and are adjudicated upon in a manner that upholds justice and the principles of democracy.

As this situation unfolds, it is imperative for all stakeholders to uphold the integrity of the judicial process and ensure that justice is served without prejudice or bias. The NDC's vigilance serves as a reminder of the critical role that transparency and fairness play in maintaining public trust and confidence in the legal system.
