We are deeply saddened to report a tragic incident that occurred on Friday, March 22, 2024, in Adugyama, a farming community in the Ashanti Region. Samuel Owusu, a 40-year-old teacher, lost his life in a heartbreaking attempt to retrieve a sum of money that had accidentally fallen into an abandoned well filled with water.

According to reports from the police, the money belonged to Owusu's neighbour, and in an act of goodwill, Owusu decided to assist by entering the deep well to retrieve it. Tragically, he drowned in the process, leaving behind a somber atmosphere in the community.

Emergency responders from Tepa Fire Service were called to the scene, where they retrieved Owusu's body from the abandoned well. Despite efforts to save him, Owusu was pronounced dead upon arrival at Mankranso Government Hospital.

In light of this tragic event, the police have launched an investigation into the incident. Additionally, Owusu's body has been deposited at Plus Lab mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Samuel Owusu's family and the entire community during this difficult time. We hope that this unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety and caution in all actions.
