Two students in court for allegedly robbing teacher at gun point

In a recent development at the Dansoman Circuit Court, two individuals, namely Joshua Kwabena Nyador and Wisdom Ayekple, have been arraigned on charges of robbery and conspiracy to rob. Both defendants have entered pleas of not guilty in response to the allegations brought against them.



The court proceedings revealed that two other individuals, Toussant Afadolo and a certain Stanley, are currently evading law enforcement and are considered at large in connection to the case.


Allegations against Nyador, Ayekple, and their accomplices include the armed robbery of a teacher, during which the complainant was relieved of her iPhone XR, iPhone 6, and an amount of GHC175 from her mobile money account. Furthermore, the accused individuals reportedly accessed the complainant's personal photos and threatened to disseminate them on social media unless a ransom of GHC5,000 was paid.


Following these events, Nyador and Ayekple have been granted bail in the amount of GHC1million each, with specific conditions attached. The case has been adjourned to November 25, 2024, for further proceedings.


According to the prosecution's account, the complainant, a teacher residing in Mempeasem, Accra, was targeted by Nyador and Ayekple, who purported themselves as University of Ghana, Legon students residing in Madina Zongo Junction.


The alleged robbery took place on July 12, 2024, at approximately 1900 hours, when the complainant and an associate were confronted by the perpetrators in a white Toyota Corolla Spider. It was reported that one of the individuals, Stanley, brandished a firearm during the incident.


Subsequent investigations led to the apprehension of Nyador at his hideout in Madina Zongo Junction. In his statement to law enforcement, Nyador confessed to his involvement in the crime and implicated his associates in the illicit activities.


Moreover, it was revealed that Nyador had tampered with the complainant's sim card and utilized multiple mobile phones registered under his and his father's names to further exploit the situation.


On the other hand, Ayekple denied his participation in the robbery in his caution statement but remains a person of interest in the ongoing investigation.


Efforts are currently underway to locate and apprehend the remaining individuals involved in this case.


As this legal process unfolds, it is essential to uphold the principles of justice and due process. The court will continue to deliberate on this matter, and further updates will be provided as new information emerges.
