In a recent development, an Accra Circuit Court has remanded a military officer and four accomplices in custody for their alleged involvement in the robbery and kidnapping of a Dutch national. WOI Elorm John Ahiakpor, Silas Amewonye, Farouk Nuodio, Daniel Kwesi Obiri Yeboah, and Michael Nana Addo are facing charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and kidnapping, as well as robbery and kidnapping.
During the court proceedings, all five individuals pleaded not guilty before the presiding judge, Samuel Bright Acquah. The defense lawyers, Andy Vortia and Carlos De-Souza, presented a bail application on behalf of the accused.
Vortia, representing WOI Elorm John Ahiakpor, emphasized the importance of a fair hearing before relying solely on police claims. He argued that the accusations against the defendants were bailable and highlighted that there was no proof of their history of bond jumping.
