The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has made significant progress in unraveling a robbery case that occurred in Spintex, Accra, on September 14, 2025. Two individuals have been apprehended in connection with the crime, marking a crucial step in the ongoing investigation. The Incident
On the early morning of September 14, at approximately 3:25 a.m., two armed men reportedly broke into the residence of a 35-year-old man in Spintex. The suspects made away with valuables including gold jewelry, a laptop, wristwatches, handbags, clothing, and cash amounting to $5,000 and GHS 21,645. Upon receiving the report, police officers promptly responded to the scene.
Key evidence was retrieved during the initial investigation, including a machete, a metal cutter, and a T-shirt believed to have been left behind by the perpetrators. The crime scene was meticulously processed, and investigations commenced immediately.
Arrests Made
Acting on intelligence gathered during the investigation, the police apprehended two suspects—26-year-old Prince Opoku, also known as Agyenkwa, and Nigerian national Jennifer Nweke—on September 18 at Adenta. A search conducted on the suspects revealed several stolen items, including jewelry, mobile phones, and substantial amounts of cash.
Further developments led investigators to a hideout in Abokobi, where additional stolen items belonging to the victim were recovered. During interrogation, suspect Opoku admitted his involvement in the crime and identified another individual, Mensah, alias Taller, as his accomplice and the leader of the operation.
Ongoing Efforts to Apprehend Accomplices
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that efforts are underway to track down other suspects who remain at large. COP Donkor stated that the GPS remains committed to ensuring justice is served and that all individuals involved in the crime are brought to book.
