The Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) has apprehended two individuals in connection with separate incidents that have caused public alarm. The arrests, carried out by law enforcement authorities, underscore the importance of vigilance and swift action in maintaining public safety.

In the first case, a 22-year-old man identified as Evans Puplampu was arrested on Tuesday after posting a video on social media in which he posed as a bandit. The video, which went viral, depicted Puplampu covering his face with clothing and including the caption, "We are starting from Ghana churches." The post reportedly triggered fear and panic among the Christian community in the country.

According to sources at the Police Headquarters, the video was intercepted by the PID on Sunday, April 5, 2026. Through sustained intelligence efforts and surveillance, officers were able to identify and locate the suspect in Ashaiman. During questioning, Puplampu admitted to creating the video under the TikTok name "Eyes Man." He explained that he was imitating a trending social media pose for entertainment purposes and had no malicious intent.

Further investigations revealed that Puplampu is a recent graduate of Zion College in Anloga, Volta Region, where he served as Captain for the Sri House. Described by school staff as obedient and disciplined, Puplampu’s actions have come as a surprise to those who knew him. A family member disclosed that he had been working at a washing bay in Community 22 to save money for furthering his education. Puplampu is the third of six siblings raised by a single mother residing in Ashaiman Lebanon.

In an unrelated incident, police have also arrested a 40-year-old man, Inusah Seidu, who is suspected of playing a significant role in the recent shooting at the Adjin Kotoku Onion Market. The arrest followed an operation conducted by the Special Operations Unit under the office of the Assistant to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

Authorities have not yet disclosed further details regarding Seidu's alleged involvement in the incident. Investigations into both cases are ongoing as law enforcement agencies continue their efforts to ensure public safety and security.

These incidents serve as a reminder of the critical role of responsible social media use and community cooperation in addressing threats to public order. The police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
