In a recent development, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, has made known his intention to involve the Ghana Police Service (GPS) in the controversy surrounding Rev Victor Kusi Boateng.

The issue revolves around the revelation made by Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, during a parliamentary session. She clarified that Rev Victor Kusi Boateng, also known as Kwabena Adu Gyamfi at the Passport Office, was granted a diplomatic passport due to his status as a prominent figure engaging in crucial government activities abroad.

Responding to Mr. Ablakwa’s inquiries regarding the issuance of the diplomatic passport, the Minister explained that the decision was made based on the fact that all necessary valid documentation, including his previous ordinary passport bearing the name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, supported the application.

In an interview on Citi FM's Eyewitness News, Mr. Ablakwa expressed his determination to involve the Police, citing the Minister’s statement as confirmation of his thorough investigations. He also criticized the Police for their lack of response to complaints from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on the matter, emphasizing the need for equal treatment of all Ghanaians under the law.

Mr. Ablakwa’s stance underscores the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring that no individual, regardless of their status or affiliations, is exempt from accountability. His commitment to renewing the complaint with the police service reflects a dedication to transparency and justice in the face of such controversies.

The unfolding events surrounding Rev Victor Kusi Boateng and the diplomatic passport issue serve as a reminder of the significance of accountability and fairness within our society. It is imperative that all individuals are subject to the same standards and scrutiny under the law, without exception.

As this situation continues to develop, it is essential for all relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate the matter and uphold the principles of justice and equality. The involvement of the Ghana Police Service will undoubtedly shed further light on this issue and contribute to maintaining the integrity of our legal and administrative systems.
