The upcoming December polls in Ghana have been a topic of concern for many, but the recent assurance from the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, brings a sense of confidence and security to the forefront. In a recent meeting with the Election Management Body (EMB) at the Electoral Commission (EC) headquarters, Dr. Dampare reiterated the commitment of the Police and other security agencies to collaborate with the EC and all relevant stakeholders to ensure peaceful and secure elections.

Acknowledging the importance of addressing security concerns ahead of the polls, Dr. Dampare emphasized the readiness of the national election security task force to work diligently with all parties involved. This proactive approach aims to resolve any potential security issues and maintain peace before, during, and after the elections.

Madam Jean Mensa, the EC chair, expressed her confidence in the proactive stance taken by the Police leadership, highlighting its potential to foster trust and confidence among all stakeholders. This collaborative effort between the Police and the EC is a significant step towards ensuring a smooth electoral process.

Furthermore, the commendation from the Centre for Democratic Development for the handling of recent by-elections under Dr. Dampare's leadership further attests to the effectiveness of the Election Security Task Force. The successful management of by-elections in various regions reflects positively on the preparedness for the upcoming main elections.

As we approach the December polls, it is reassuring to see key stakeholders coming together to address security concerns and ensure a peaceful electoral process. The commitment of the Police and other security agencies, in collaboration with the EC and relevant stakeholders, sets a promising precedent for the upcoming elections. With these proactive measures in place, there is optimism for a successful and peaceful electoral process in Ghana.
